If you are a follower of my work you will know that I am a big fan of styled bridal shoots. I will always try to plan at least one a year as it gives me the opportunity to work around a chosen theme along with a group of like minded and talented wedding industry suppliers, to offer ideas and inspiration for Bride & Groom’s to be!
Spring and Summer are typically very popular for weddings, so for our most recent styled shoot we opted for a typical English Rose Summer Garden theme, incorporating soft, classical & romantic fabrics with a feminine blush & pink colour scheme.
The stunning Goldstone Hall Hotel in Shropshire was the beautiful back drop for the shoot and with its award winning gardens which were in full summer bloom gave us a picture perfect setting for a English Rose wedding theme.
Muse Bridal located in Newport, Shropshire provided the beautiful wedding gowns used in the shoot and we were keen to incorporate many looks throughout. We started with the stunning ‘Hasina’ gown from La Sposa by Pronovias, in delicate crepe with embellishment to the back, and a stunning bespoke silk flower headpiece by Julieann Bird Designs; both modeled by Hannah.
Lottie wore a beautiful satin, V neck ‘Oxford’ gown by Ronald Joyce styled with a stunning bridal hair vine & jewellery by Julieann Bird.
We wanted an ultra feminine dream dress style for our next look so our beautiful model, Hannah wore the stunning ‘Rylee’ gown, a soft blush design with silvery lace detailing by Ronald Joyce featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline and full skirt. Julieann Bird finished the look with 2 different bespoke headpieces (‘Annabel’ & ‘Abigail’) featuring delicate pearls and crystals in complimentary colours.
For our model Lottie, we went for a look of timeless elegance with the equisite ‘Jodie’ gown from Ronald Joyce, featuring a beautiful pearl and diamante belt. Julieann Bird complemented the look with a closely matched headband and bracelet, topped off with a pair of timeless pearl drop earrings. “One of the hot trends for 2018 is horizontal design elements, with matching belts and headbands”- Juliean Bird.
Denise Purnell designed a horizontal style over sized bouquet, choosing flowers to depict an elegant simplicity with roses as the main flower in blush pinks and greens.
Keeping with a timeless & feminine style Lottie changed into another Ronald Joyce gown. This beautiful Jacenia wedding dress with its full skirt & lace bodice features a row of pearl and diamante buttons that run the entire length of the back including the train. Julieann Bird complemented the look with her ‘Lottie’ headband, to match the style of embellishment seen on the dress.
We wanted to incorporate a fun element into one of the photos with an over sized helium ballon, provided by TMS Events.
We opted for a form fitting final dress for Hannah, with a lace top and sleeves by Pronovias which was styled with the ‘Collette’ tiara from Julieann Bird’s bespoke collection.
Local wedding suppliers: Gingerlily Florist, TMS Events & Paper Pea stationery provided some stunning details for the shoot. Gingerlily Florist used fresh flowers for the table centre pieces, chair backs & button holes, featuring an array of roses, peonies and other foliage. TMS Events used a variety of lace & silk coloured fabrics for the table cloths and chair backs, including lace drapes for the entrance to the outdoor barn at Goldstone Hall.
Paper Pea designed a variety of beautiful wedding stationery for the shoot including invitations, place settings & menus. “When designing the stationery, I imagined the perfect setting for a romantic summer’s day. Modern, feminine and timeless, this collection oozes delicacy and dreaminess, all presented on a rustic, hammered texture which gives the suite a soft, yet premium finish.” -Jules O’Connor at Paper Pea
Here are some of the beautiful gowns & hair pieces used in the shoot…
I asked wedding make up artist, Rachel Savine about her choice of colour pallete for the shoot: ‘For Hannah, I used soft Gold Champagne, peach and warm caramel eye shadows for eyes, adding depth and intensity to the lashes. A soft apricot blusher and gold highlighter was applied to the apples of the cheeks helping to capture the light and a high shine lipstick was used to complete the look for a soft glossy finish.’
‘Lottie’s make-up look was created using a long wear liquid foundation to provide the perfect base and a soft diffused appearance to her skin. For her eyes, I kept the eye shadow soft but used false lashes to draw attention to them, adding definition to the lash line and soft shaping to her brows.
I added very soft dusky pink blushers to her cheeks and a dusky pink high shine lipstick for understated glamour.’ – Rachel Savine (Make Up Artist)
Hair stylist Louise Price created some different looks for the models featuring beautiful soft waves & curls pinned up loosely to showcase femininity & classic elegance.
On the day of the shoot we were blessed with a beautiful summer’s day which added to the romantic English Rose Wedding theme perfectly. Everybody involved worked so hard to bring our ideas and inspirations to life. Hopefully it has given you some inspiration for the planning of your outdoor summer wedding, but if you would like any further information on any aspect of the shoot, then please feel free to contact any of the local wedding suppliers (details below) as they would be more than happy to help.
